R700 shoulder pad
The R700 shoulder pad, muscle protection and fatigue reduction!
By combining protection and muscle compression (Supportiv technology), we have a unique shoulder pad that keeps the rugby player safe while reducing fatigue to the upper body. This shoulder pad is the product of our knowledge of the human body and our expertise in clothing design.
The R700 shoulder pad, designed for regular and frequent use, will protect:
- the areas that are tested most in rugby: your shoulders and your collar bones.
- Your biceps that are used a lot when playing and are weakened as a consequence.
- Your ribs and floating ribs, areas that are prone to injury in the tackle.
- Your plexus that is weakest part of the upper body because it has no muscle.
- Your backbone that is also a delicate area because it has less muscle.
+ The Supportiv system of this shoulder pad keeps your muscles compressed when playing, facilitating movement and muscle recovery.
The design of protective guards for playing rugby (including the R700 shoulder pad) is highly regulated by the rugby federation. The federation aims not to overprotect players, but to allow them to withstand repetitive blows and thus play for longer.
Each product must therefore comply with IRB (International Rugby Board) regulations regarding:
- The specific zones requiring protection
- The Thicknesses of protection. For example, protective zones on a shoulder pads must not be more than 10mm thick.
- A capacity to absorb shocks. The density of the material used in the products must not exceed 45kg/m3.
The engineer sought to make further improvements to the product during the design process for the R700 shoulder pad. He consequently added some silicone patches to the shoulder guard's base and sleeves to prevent the jersey from rising when playing, thereby improving player comfort in use. He added the Supportiv system (muscle support) to the R700 shoulder pad in order to facilitate movement and muscle recovery. Lastly, he made the product with Equarea certified materials to make it breathable and facilitate moisture transfer.
