AND KIPSTA's ECO-DESIGN?

And kipsta's eco-design?

In addition to providing the full range of top-quality products for football, our design teams are committed to having them manufactured using the most environmentally-friendly procedures and processes. For this we use what we call 'eco-design'.

Our 'eco-design' system

Our 'eco-design' consists in taking account of environmental issues not only right from the first design stages but also throughout the whole life of the product.

In practice, this means trying to find all the possible ways to reduce the environmental impact throughout the product's useful life and afterwards.

A product designed (or re-designed) with environmental factors always in mind is a product which fulfils the same functions as a traditionally-designed product, with the added bonus of an environmental plus: an eco-designed football shirt is above all an excellent football shirt!

AND KIPSTA's ECO-DESIGN?

The life-cycle of a product for playing football

This means all the stages in which a product is involved during its useful life and afterwards.

- its raw materials: extraction and treatment
- its manufacture: manufacturing techniques
- its transport: from the production site to the point of sale
- its marketing: sales and distribution method
- its everyday use: usage, washing and maintenance
- its end of life: repair, recycling, destruction

AND KIPSTA's ECO-DESIGN?

Our eco-design criteria

Eco-design with us is not just a concept -it's measurable!

Our design teams have established a stringent framework for defining the process. Products involved must meet one of the two following criteria:

1.Their environmental impact must be at least 10% less than that for the previous model, on at least two of the following indicators: climate change, atmospheric pollution, pollution of water-courses and resource depletion.

OR

2. They must be able to justify certain very precise attributes: at least 70% of the product weight in recycled polyester, fabric comprising at least 90% cotton from organic plantations, dyes requiring less water consumption, etc.

AND KIPSTA's ECO-DESIGN?

The environmental impact score - how does this relate to eco-design?

Going a bit beyond the design aspects, we have started to carry out environmental assessments on certain products.

A product's environmental score enables comparing the environmental impact of various products in the same product range.
Today, among those products that have been assessed (63.8% of our product range at the end of 2020) you will find a score from A to E.

This scoring system is already well established for household appliances and is now available on our products thanks to an ingenious calculation method carried out by our experts!
