Through its Kipsta football brand, the Decathlon group is partnering with Belgian football club KVO, which plays in the country's top-flight, the Jupiler League, for the next two seasons.
A first for Decathlon and Kipsta in Belgian professional football, this alliance is based above all on the synergy between the two partners' fundamental values, as Decathlon Football Leader Salim Bennis explains:
"KV Oostende has teams in every age group, playing at national, provincial and regional level. What's more and unlike most pro clubs, it doesn't hold trials. There's a place here for every child who wants to play for KVO. And it's that policy of sport for all that clearly ties in with what we've been promoting for a long time: making sport more accessible to as many people as possible. In working with KVO, we are upholding the same values of solidarity, generosity, accessibility and family."
This collaboration isn't just about the pros. It also covers the youth teams, who will be kitted out by Kipsta too.
Decathlon Clubs Leader Vincenzo Verhoeven: “The beauty of this partnership is that the quality of the Kipsta products in our stores is the same as that of the products used by KVO. Anyone who loves their football, whether they play at an amateur level or in a lower league, can play the game using exactly the same kit that's used in the first division, and all with our very affordable
Decathlon prices. This technical club partnership will see us focus on co-designing and interacting with the first team, the youth teams and even the fans so we can adapt our products even more to players and fans.”
With a new kit supplier comes new kits.
Decathlon's designers worked hard on the Kustboys' new strip, which was launched in July 2020.
KVO Commercial Director Geert Vergauwe: "Decathlon has just opened a new
store in Ostend. We are delighted that Decathlon is taking part in our "Route 31". Club captain Kevin Vandendriessche did his physical tests in Kipsta kit and was very happy with its quality and appearance. »
Retailing for €55, the shirt is available online and at Decathlon's Ostend store, which opened on 18 May and is just 4km from the stadium.
"KV Oostende is one of the few Belgian first division clubs with teams at all levels, playing in the regional and provincial youth leagues and elite and pro leagues. Its foundation also has a disability team.
A set-up like that helps promote our belief in "making football accessible to everyone".
